How to Apply

The Indonesian Students Visa application requires the following processes:

1.Application Process for study permit

  • Receive a formal letter of admission at an Indonesian University
  •  Application process by the University on your behalf at the Ministry of Education and Culture online portal
  • Sending of document by your university to complete the application
  • Submission of application
  • Wait for decision

Within one to two weeks, the Ministry of Education and Culture will forward your approved study permit and a visa authorization to the Immigration Department in your home country for you to start your visa application process.

2. Application Process for an entrance visa (VITAS)

  • Contact and make visa application appointment with your local embassy or consulate
  • Make sure all your documents are ready and handy
  • Meet your appointment with the embassy or consulate and submit the required documents.
  • Check the accepted payment method and proceed to pay the application fee
  • Wait patiently for your your visa to be approved
  • Go back to the consulate and collect your passport and other documents.

3. Application Process for residence permit (KITAS)

  • Visit the immigration department within the 30 days of  your arrival in Indonesia
  • Wait patiently for the conversion of your VITAS to KITAS. This will be done within 10 days.
  • Immediately your KITAS is issued, Register with the police headquarters to get a report letter (STM) to your municipality’s population office.
  • Collect your certificate of registration for temporary residence (SKPPS)

The charges for Indonesian Students Visa is not much. The cost of the visa is around IDR 1,970,000 which may amount to $135, £103, or €104. It depends on your Nationality and the exchange rate at your time of travel.
