You must fulfill the prerequisites of the graduate program(s) you want to pursue and possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university to be eligible for graduate study at Stanford University.

You are not eligible to be considered as a Knight-Hennessy scholar if you received your first or bachelor’s degree more than seven years ahead of when you wanted to enroll (in 2017 or earlier, for the fall 2025 intake). Even if you obtained a second degree in 2018 or later, this still holds true.

There are still many of ways to finance your graduate studies at Stanford, and you are free to apply to the graduate school of your choosing.(Those with two extra years of eligibility are those who served in their nation’s armed forces.)

Can my Knight-Hennessy Scholars offer be postponed?

No. Admission to a graduate program may be postponed; that is the department’s responsibility. While certain Stanford programs, including the professional schools of business, law, and medicine, permit deferrals, the majority of Stanford programs do not. Regardless of the graduate program’s policy, Knight-Hennessy Scholars does not delay scholar offers. You will need to reapply for admission for the year you want to attend if you are chosen as a Knight-Hennessy scholar and are not able to enroll.

For English proficiency, what tests must I take and pass?

The TOEFL is accepted for all Stanford graduate degree programs. The only degree program at Stanford that also takes the PTE and IELTS is the MBA program. While some departments only accept test results from the last 18 months, others allow test results going back 24 months. Does being a Knight-Hennessy scholar need a certain minimum GPA or test score?
